Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (2024)

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (1)

Need to put some finishing touches on your new dragon-themed UI? Or are you just now realizing that Raiding and Mythic+ dungeons open up in a few days and you still have no idea what any of the mechanics do? Whatever content you’re gearing up for, we have you covered with a round-up of some must-have addons and WeakAuras.

For the purposes of this article, we’re straying away from spec or class specific resources, or any that are extremely popular (we’ll assume you already have some of the basics such as the Raider.IO addon, Bigwigs, DBM, or Mythic Dungeon Tools, etc.), and we won’t be focusing on aesthetic or reskinning addons such as ElvUI.

Keep in mind that most creators are still updating their addons to work for Dragonflight, or are busy creating more tools for Dragonflight’s new systems. Keep your eyes peeled for new additions on Wago!

Minor Quality-of-Life

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (4)

Bad Boy: Spam Blocker & Reporter by funkehdude

After becoming a WoW player of a certain age (that age is old), my tolerance for spam and bad behavior in chat has gone down; Bad Boy helps clean things up before I even see them and even helps clean up the LFG tool!

Bug Sack with Bug Grabber by funkehdude

This addon lets you use slightly out-of-date addons and WeakAuras in peace while you wait for their creators to update them. It will automatically hide all Lua error popups and consolidate them into a window that you can access whenever you need.

BuyEmAll by Jordy141

Ever need to mass-purchase something from a vendor and get stuck buying stacks of 20? Suffer no more because BuyEmAll has you covered! This addon raises the purchasing limit to whatever you need as long as you have enough space and gold for it.

Postall by Xinhuan

Especially useful for those who frequently use the Auction House. Postal adds some extra functionality to your mailbox, including mass opening mail of a certain type and tracking your Alt’s mail as well!

Dungeons and Mythic+

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (6)

Astral Keys by TerraQT

A great multipurpose Mythic+ Keystone Addon that tracks keystones for all of your toons and any guildmates or friends that also have this addon. If you are targeting specific dungeon gear early in the tier, this lets you know if anyone you know has a keystone for that dungeon!

M+ Auto-Keystone and Pulltimert by R41z0r#2377

This WeakAura automatically inserts your key into the font when you open it, making sorting through your bags to find the right key a thing of the past (Astral Keys addon from above does this too)

GroupReminder by Rhany

This might not be a universal problem, but whenever I apply to multiple Mythic+ groups, I inevitably forget where to go immediately after accepting my group invite. This handy little addon will give you either a pop up or a chat message reminding you which group you joined!

M+ Automarker by megawatt

This WeakAura will automatically mark important trash mobs in a pull (i.e. things that have high priority interrupts, dangerous abilities, etc.) when you mouseover them. This is a must-have for tanks or shot-callers to quickly assign group members to kick or CC certain mobs – especially if there are multiple adds with the same name in a pack. Keep in mind that only one person in a group should run this WeakAura at a time – otherwise, markers can get overwritten mid-pull and cause quite a bit of confusion!

M+ Interrupt Tracker by Jodsderechte

This valuable WeakAura will allow you to track your group's interrupts. This will allow you to make call outs on who should handle certain casts, and is especially important when running higher keys as missed interrupts or accidental overlaps can lead to a wipe.

OmniCD by Treebonker

If you want to step up your Mythic+ gameplay, the next step is to add a full party CD tracker that allows you to coordinate cooldowns with your party members. OmniCD is very customizable and also tracks interrupts if you prefer an all-in-one solution.

Premade Group Filter by baerenhard

Premade Group Filter is a huge time saver when looking through dungeon groups to filter by group composition. For example, you can set it to only show groups with no healers if you are a healer or less than 3 DPS if you are a DPS.

Super DF Dungeons by Causese

There are so many creators who have you covered with dungeon mechanics WeakAuras that it would be a shame to not use one of them. This one linked by Causese is the most popular, but search for “DF Dungeons” in Wago if you are looking for another style to better fit your UI.

Thundering Affix Debuff and Clear Countdown by EllesmereGaming or Thundering Party List by Vaereth

With the new seasonal affix Thundering, it can be hard to know exactly what you personally want from a WeakAura for it. We’ve included 2 options that help you out with the affix in very different ways – maybe try them both out and pick your favorite next week!

Raiding

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (8)

Autopass loot by bisse123#2343

With the new loot changes, guild groups can use the Need/Greed/Pass system to their advantage but that can get tedious for raiders. This WeakAura allows you to auto “pass” or “greed” items as a raider, or auto “need” everything as the raid leader to help speed up the loot process.

Don’t Release by Vlad

In Raid, there are some of us who release by habit and end up doing the walk of shame after wiping while everyone else is resurrected. This WeakAura hides your release button until you hold down CTRL for 3 seconds to make extra sure you aren’t teased by your guildmates!

Missing Raid/Party Buffs by Maroo

This nifty WeakAura lets you know if you’re missing any group buffs. It automatically knows what classes are in your group and won’t show missing buffs if they don’t benefit from the buff (no more Warriors complaining that they don’t have Arcane Intellect!).

Vault of the Incarnates Mechanics Pack by Causese

This is a WeakAura pack that will almost make your Raid Leader think you watched the fight videos for once! Helpful indicators for the various raid mechanics and there are even instructions for importing the custom sounds that give additional audio cues for mechanics.
P.S. Check the creator’s profile for some other raid-specific WeakAuras!

Vault of the Incarnates Cotank Auras by Causese

A must-have for tanks in raid to make taunt swapping a breeze. These WeakAuras don’t even require you to set your co-tank as a focus target, they are truly plug and play.

Vault of the Pineapples by TacticalAirHorse

Ok while not technically a WeakAura or an addon, we couldn’t make a list of helpful tools for the raid without including this link! The much-loved Pineapple Raid trainer is back, this time for Vault of the Incarnates. Link this into your guild discord and enjoy a slightly more prepared raid group come reset!

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (9)

User Interface

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (10)

Minimap Button Bag by SkunFly

With all of the addons from this list, you’re bound to have a ton of minimap buttons cluttering your UI. MBB allows you to quickly access all of your map buttons while keeping things tidy.

Opie by cfxfox

This addon has been around since 2009 but always seems to surprise people when they see it. Especially now with increased utility spells and buttons from new talent trees, your keybind real estate might be at a premium. This addon allows you to bind things to a radial menu, so you can access them quickly without having to use as many keybinds.

Talent Tree Tweaks by Numedain

This addon brings a lot of functionality to the new talent tree UI. It allows you to import builds of someone you’re inspecting, turns talent import codes into clickable links in chat, and changes some of the visuals to help you when editing your own build.

Friend Groups by Hayato2846

Got too many friends? This may not be a problem for many of us, but if you PUG often or do different content with different people, it can get difficult to keep track of your friends list. This addon lets you group your friends list into categories and has some other customization options as well.

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (11)

Leveling

Must-Have Addons and WeakAuras for Dragonflight (12)

Azeroth Pilot Reloaded by RyciaSoulblight

The reboot of an older addon called “Azeroth Auto Pilot”, this addon streamlines leveling and has a lot of quality of life improvements that prioritize speed and optimization. A great option for alts, or even your first character if you don’t care to pay attention to storylines.

Tama’s 1-70 Leveling Pack by Amzeus(Tama)

A weakaura for optimizing your speed during leveling by using all of the tools at your disposal; a tracker for consumables, xp boosting items, and a time tracker that gives you real time data on

BTW Quests by Breeni

If you take a more completionist approach to your leveling, this addon is for you! It tracks your progress within different quest chains and helps you find your way back to quests you may missed along the way.

HandyNotes by nevcairiel

A very popular addon sees a slew of new plugins for Dragonflight to help point you in the right direction for collectibles, questing, and just for learning where things are in the new zones:

Valdrakken Map Labels by Serina
If you’re looking for something a bit more minimalistic, this weakaura will help you navigate your way around our new main hub city of Valdrakken, especially with how sprawling the layout is in comparison to the airport terminal of Oribos!

Silver Dragon: Rare Scanner by Kemayo

If you want to be altered of rares while on the go, rather than hunting for them specifically, this addon is the way to go. It will scan your nameplates as you (dragon)fly around and give you an alert as soon as it sees a rare you need. Great for anyone who doesn’t pay attention to their minimap while out in the world.

Darian - Dragonriding UI by Darianopolis

If you’re looking to perfect your Dragonriding and track your Speed, Acceleration, Vigor and other helpful indicators, you need to check out this weakaura. The Dragonriding system was introduced as one of the main features of this expansion, so getting as comfortable as possible with it will probably be useful long-term.

Tama’s Dragonflight Helper by Amzeus(Tama)

Your new go-to for tracking what you need to do on a daily basis to keep up with your reputations and rewards. You can customize what is shown and it will even add waypoints to your map for chosen tasks if you get lost!

Nameplates

Plater Nameplates by Terciob and cont1nuity

Although we’ve called this section nameplates, Plater is really the best way to go. With a tremendous amount of customization options, importable profiles, and plugins, it can be customized to nearly anyone’s needs. If you’re looking to get started with Plater, here are some options we recommend:

  • Plater Profile 2.0 by Fatpala is a great place to start if you want an all in one profile that you can use right away without tinkering.
  • Plater Profile for M+ Users by 호불 is another plug-and-play profile (check out the creator’s profile for TONS of other Plater plugins you can import to customize your own nameplates.
  • Spelltext Based Glow by Causese will automatically put an effect on castbars if they have “dangerous” keywords in their spell text. Not a perfect science but a good starting point while learning what spells are dangerous in a new dungeon.
