At the end of 2022, Rick Riordan announced a new book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods is set to release on September 26th, 2023.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods will follow Percy Jackson and his friends, Annabeth and Grover, as they complete three new quests to get letters of recommendation from Mount Olympus for college.

The Heroes of Olympus is a middle grade fantasy series by Rick Riordan. It’s a spin-off series from Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

It follows a group of demigods who unite to protect the world from a new enemy. It features brand new characters as well as well-known characters like Percy. Unlike Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus features Greek and Roman mythology.

The Kane Chronicles is a middle grade fantasy series by Rick Riordan. It follows two siblings, Carter and Sadie, who are descendants of two pharaohs.

Throughout the trilogy, the siblings must complete quests and deal with Egyptian gods and goddesses. Unlike his previous books, The Kane Chronicles features Egyptian mythology.

Are there any Percy Jackson movie adaptations?

There are two movies in the Percy Jackson film series. The first movie, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is based on the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief. The film stars Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase as well as Brandon T Jackson as Grover. It was released on February 12th, 2010.

The second movie, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters is based on the second book in the series, The Sea of Monsters. Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T Jackson all returned for the film. It was released on August 7th, 2013.

While they didn’t continue making the films, you can watch the first two movies on Disney Plus!

Will there be a Percy Jackson show on Disney Plus?

While the Percy Jackson film series was not a success, Rick Riordan is working with Disney Plus to create the best adaptation. In May of 2020, a television series for Percy Jackson and the Olympians was announced, with Rick Riordan as an executive producer.

The television series will star Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase as well as Aryan Simhadri as Grover. The series will also feature Jason Montzoukas and Lin Manuel Miranda among others.

Filming for the series began in June of 2022 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Filming concluded in February of 2023.

When will the Percy Jackson series release on Disney Plus?

The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney Plus is set to release on December 20th, 2023. There will be two episodes available on December 20th, followed by an episode release each week. The first season will also consist of eight episodes.

While there is still quite a bit of time before we get to watch the adaptation, thankfully we have Rick Riordan’s books to keep us company!
