CLASS INFORMATION

PLEASE NOTE: CEUs are not offered on all classes. Please refer to individual class descriptions for details.
The following applies to our standard in-house and online courses only. (AC Startup & Service, Heat Pump Install & Service, Inverter Technology, Gas Furnace Electrical & Mechanical, Understanding Geothermal)

  • All Kentucky classes qualify for Kentucky Masters & Journeymen hours
  • Florence classes qualify for Ohio HVAC CEU hours
  • Indiana classes qualify for 4 hours of continuing education for Vanderburg Co., IN, Masters
  • Classes approved for Elite Residential hours
  • Per state rules, repeat courses do not qualify for accumulative credits. Each class must be unique.
    i.e. Taking (2) Heat Pump Classes only qualifies for 4 CEUs total whereas (1) Inverter Technology Class & (1) Heat Pump Class = 8 CEUs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • ATTN: Kentucky Journeymen/Masters… You can attend two Corken classes and earn all your hours for the year. You cannot take the same class twice in the same year.
  • Persons attending classes for KY & Ohio credit hours must bring photo ID and journeyman/Masters or Ohio license number.
  • Class fee includes reference material and lunch or dinner.
  • Corken Steel reserves the right to limit class size or cancel classes.
  • State of KY classes require 12 or more people in attendance.
  • Class registration must be made 7 days prior to class date.
  • Cancellations must be made 14 days prior to class date.
  • Cancellations less than 14 days prior to class date will be billed for the class.
  • State of Kentucky Approval refers to recognition of education activities only and does not imply approval or endorsem*nt of any product of the company displayed in the program or brochure.

Corken Steel’s experienced training and support team is ready to assist you with any technical issues with your Tempstar, ClimateMaster, Lochinvar, LG, or other equipment.

JOHN OGLE TRAINING DIRECTOR

John Ogle joined The Corken Steel Product company in 1996 as a Technical Service Adviser (TSA). John first entered the HVAC industry in 1972, working with equipment and teaching classes at a distribution company. This is when he became passionate about training others on the industry equipment, standards, policy, and best practices. He has had expert training in International Comfort Products Corporation (ICP) and ClimateMaster equipment as well as all the major products Corken Steel has to offer.

John teaches our monthly virtual classes and specializes in residential and commercial equipment and controls. He offers his extensive knowledge of both service and installation of the equipment and keeps up to date on the industry changes.

John has earned the ICP TSA Excellence Award, EPA 608 Refrigerant Technician specification, and holds his Nate Certification. John lives on a ten-acre farm in Loveland Ohio, where he enjoys working the land, target practice and tinkering with his tractor, farm equipment and tools. He enjoys landscaping and just being outdoors.

BRIAN STALL GEOTHERMAL TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVISOR

Brain A. Stall started with The Corken Steel Product company in 2001 as inside counter sales. In 2003, he transitioned to a Technical Service Adviser (TSA). Shortly into this role he began to specialize in the Geothermal technology and products. Brian received formal training from Diamon Oaks trade school in refrigeration and basic electronics. Prior to Corken Steel, he received years of on-the-job training with an organization that believed in education and continued instruction. He attended many Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) classes and learned from trade experienced professionals.

Brian specializes in Geothermal design, and the technical application of his specialty. He enjoys working with our customers to help meet all their Geothermal needs. Brain has his NATE certification and is certified through International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA). He is also a certified trainer through International Comfort Products (ICP) and ClimateMaster. Brian will be conducting our in-person Geothermal basic and advanced classes.

Brian is from Cincinnati Ohio, where he loves watching Bengals football and hanging out with his grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, boating, and off-roading in jeeps. An interesting fact about Brian is that at one time he played drums in a band. His favorite motto is ‘you never know everything, and you never stop training’.

PAT LINHARDT HYDRONICS SPECIALIST

Patrick “Pat” Linhardt joined Corken Steel Products in 2012 as the hydronics manager. After serving for four years in the United States Air Force, Pat was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent in 1983. Pat received an associate degree in Ground Radar Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He chose a career in HVAC because he enjoyed the technical challenge. Throughout his 38 year business career, Pat has worked inside sales, outside sales and management, always focused on hydronics.

Pat’s area of expertise is hot water and steam boiler heating systems. In 2003, Pat created, wrote, illustrated, and publishedLinhardt’s Field Guide to Steam Heating, an on-site trouble shooting tool for service technicians working on steam heating systems. Also, as an author, he contributes articles to trade publications starting in 2004. Since 2019, he is the featured hydronics columnist forContractormagazine. Pat will be conducting all our in person hydronic classes.

Pat is an honored associate member of ACCGC, the Air Conditioning Contractors of Greater Cincinnati. When he is not at work, Pat enjoys family, landscaping and playing golf. His favorite motto is ‘your mind is your toolbox, fill it up with the knowledge of your trade’.

MARTY NEWBERRY TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVISOR

Marty Newberry joined The Corken Steel Product company in 1999 as a counter salesperson. He was promoted to Technical Service Adviser (TSA) in 2014. He comes from a family of tradesman and after high school Marty entered into the HVAC trade industry as well. He has years of hands-on experience, along with product specific training.

Marty is our LG specialist and will be teaching on LG Duct-Free Split (DFS) systems and products. Marty also teaches on TempStar Residential equipment and duct work design.

Marty is from Milford Ohio and enjoys all things outdoors. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, and camping. He also is an avid rock climber.

VINCE FELDMAN TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVISOR

As a TSA, Vince assists Corken HVAC dealers with phone assistance and job site calls on ICP heating, LG inverter technology and ClimateMaster Geothermal equipment. Vince also teaches classes on Tempstar and ClimateMaster equipment.

Vince has over 20 years of commercial field service in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky markets. Vince is also the factory service rep for ICP and ClimateMaster equipment in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky markets.

Vinceknows allthe things about all the stuff.

ERIC RICHARDSON TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVISOR

Eric Richardson joined the Corken Steel Product company in 2019 as a residential Technical Service Adviser (TSA). He entered the HVAC industry in 2009 because of the growth and career opportunities the industry has to offer. Eric specializes in the residential products and services that Corken Steel has to offer.

Eric holds his Kentucky Journeyman’s license as well as his NATE certification. He will be teaching all our in person residential classes at our Florence location. Eric has many years of experience teaching technicians that are new to the industry and enjoys teaching the art of residential installation.

Eric is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and loves to hang out with his family and go on vacations.

BRADY BROPHY TACO HYDRONICS SPECIALIST

Jeffrey “Brady” Brophy started with The Corken Steel Company in 2015 as a warehouse associate. He then transitioned to on-the-job training in HVAC with a local contractor. Brady returned to Corken Steel in 2020 as a Technical Service Adviser with several years of field experience. He also holds many certifications from Legend University, and LochinvarU. He chose a career in HVAC when his previous role in the restaurant business was no longer giving him the job satisfaction he desired.

Brady specializes in hydronics which includes residential and light commercial boiler replacement, new construction, and radiant floor design. Brady is currently apprenticing to be our next generation of skilled instructors.

Brady considers Independence, KY his home where he enjoys his Great Dane named Maeve. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor hobbies like golfing and kayaking. Brady is into college and professional sports and is a huge fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and the Denver Broncos.

JON FREKING GEOTHERMAL TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVISOR

Jonathan “Jon” Freking started working at Corken Steel in August of 2022 doing load calculations with the applied group. His skill and knowledge were quickly identified, and he transitioned into the Technical Service Advisor (TSA) roll in July of 2023 with his main focus being residential geothermal. Jon joined the HVAC industry in 2010 and holds his NATE and KY Journeyman’s license.

When Jon is not working in the field with contractors, he enjoys building computers and is an avid sports fan. He is most proud of being a Bengals season ticket holder since 2012, “WHO DEY”. You will see Jon teaching in the Corken Steel Training Center because, ‘you will always be a student in this trade. It’s ever evolving’.

OUR TRAINING FACILITY

Our new and improved Training Center in Florence, KY, officially opened in October 2023. Two years in the making, our state-of-the-art training facility was designed to supply our customers and employees with all the resources needed for a unique and successful training experience. With 6,000 square feet of educational space, contractors can enjoy many opportunities to learn the many facets of the industry.

The Home Comfort Expo presented at Geofarm is an annual event organized by Corken Steel Products. It takes place the Thursday before Labor Day, located on a beautiful 300 acre farm in Aurora, Indiana. More than 300 dealers attend the event each year to expand their industry knowledge and learn about products and services from over 20 different vendors.
